Convergence Quartet  -  Thu Nov 10, 2011  |  08:00 pm
Admission £ 10.00 ( £ 8.00 concessions)
The Convergence Quartet is a remarkable meeting of minds, with UK musicians Alex Hawkins and Dom Lash teamed up with New York's Taylor Ho Bynum and Canadian ex-pat Harris Eisenstadt. Their music explores the territory between composition and free improvisation, and has been described by critic Graham Lock as bringing together "the well-planned and the unpredictable, the forceful and the intricate, expressive solos and cogent group interactions . . . a convergence of riches".

They played at Newcastle's Corner House in 2006, not long after the group's establishment, and make a welcome return to Tyneside after their live CD Song/Dance was listed as one of the year's top 10 albums in leading magazines Coda and AllAboutJazz.
