Going Dutch : Part Two  -  Sun Jan 22, 2017  |  07:00 pm
The second part of our all day celebration of jazz from the Netherlands continues with the theme of the afternoon session - a mix of established bands whose reputations precede them, and new combinations for whom this could well be the launching pad for continuing collaboration.

In this we'll be drawing on what is already a rich Dutch tradition of welcoming new ideas from artists regardless of their origins; pianist Kaja Draksler, for instance, is originally from Slovenia, while American saxophonist John Dikeman arrived in Amsterdam via a spell in Cairo! So this is indeed a celebration of Dutch jazz, but equally a reflection of the fact that great music knows no borders.

Evening Session
7.00-8.00pm : Ab Baars/Olie Brice/Jasper Stadhouders/Martin van Duynhoven + Kaja Draksler solo
8.15-9.15pm : Reinier Baas/Ig Henneman/Faye MacCalman + Cactus Truck (Dikeman, Stadhouders & Govaerts)
9.30-10.30pm : Kaya Draksler & Ig Henneman + Wilbert de Joode/Onno Govaerts/Jasper Stadhouders

This concert is made possible by assistance from Dutch Performing Arts in association with the Jazz Promotions Network and Jazz North
