Paris-sur-Tyne: Part One  -  Sun Jan 24, 2016  |  02:00 pm
Now here's an all-day extravaganza that takes Jazz North East's links with the French jazz scene into a totally new dimension!

It all started a few years ago when we brought over cellist Valentin Ceccaldi and drummer Sylvain Darrifourcq to create the quartet Sonsale with Andy Champion and Corey Mwamba. Then we spotted that Valentin was also involved with his brother Théo's award winning trio . . . and Théo in his turn told us of his duo with Paris-based Italian pianist Roberto Negro . . . and Roberto told us about . . .

You get the picture; in no time at all we had a growing list of great bands we really wanted to bring to Tyneside. But how to fit so many into our concert programme? Simple - bring them all over at once and turn it into a day long celebration of our musical friendship. So over the course of two sessions - afternoon and evening - we'll be presenting five different bands from Paris, plus a reunion for Sonsale, and two entirely new combinations that we're creating specially for the occasion.

This is an opportunity to hear some of the most original and exciting French jazz, and it's unique to Newcastle - the musicians fly in from Paris the day before the concert, and return the day after. Don't miss it.

Afternoon Session:
* In Love With
* Sonsale
* Théo Ceccaldi Trio
* Garibaldi Plop

This concert is financially assisted by the French Music Export Bureau

Tickets for each session cost £12.00 or £10.00 concessions, but there's a saving on all day tickets, which are priced at £20.00 / £16.00 concessions.
