Enchanted Tales + Ceitidh Mac  -  Sat Oct 06, 2018  |  01:45 pm
Admission £ 7.00 ( £ 5.00 concessions)
Ceitidh MacLeod is a Northumbrian-based cello player and singer who combines the belly-warming tones of her instrument with her voice, producing an original and intriguing sound. Joined by Will Hammond on vibraphone and percussion, and Jazz North East favourite Faye MacCalman on clarinet, they create an original blend of traditional folk music, blues and jazz, as well as their own material using experimental techniques on cello and percussion.

Then, for the other half of this intriguing double bill, it’s time to take a journey through fairy tale lands… guitarist Graeme Stephen joins innovative singer, instrumentalist and composer Lizabett Russo for a collaborative silent film project. Their newly-constructed work plays out against the backdrop of early 20th century film adaptations of classic fairy tales, with a new score by Russo and Stephen. Including passages from Alice in Wonderland, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White and many more, ‘Enchanted Tales’ pieces them together to form a new story, with some surprising twists.

"Simply world-class work by any standard” Tom Robinson.

Tickets are available from the Jazz Café (0191 222 9882), Reflex CD (0191 260 3246) or online from
