Formed in the Summer of 2006, NeWt, with its unconventional instrumentation of trombone, guitar and drums, and Chris Greive's use of electronics to create bass lines through the trombone, rapidly built a reputation as one of the most distinctive and original groups around, with performances at the Edinburgh, Glasgow & London Jazz Festivals, and the European Jazz Network's annual convention.

In 2008 they travelled to Berlin to begin a collaboration with reeds player Silke Eberhard, and a tremendous rapport was quickly established, with Silke inspired by the trio's new compositions, and she in turn influencing and re-shaping the sound of the band. The music they developed was subsequently recorded for the album 'NeWt 2', and this is the material they will be exploring at this Bridge gig, the final date in a short UK tour.

The gig, a co-promotion with Splinter, is part of Jazz North East's 'On the Outside' series, generously supported by Newcastle City Council.
