Bourne to Brew  -  Sun Mar 13, 2011  |  08:00 pm
Admission £ 7.00 ( £ 5.00 concessions)
Drummer Sean Noonan, well known to Tyneside audiences as leader of Brooklyn punk-jazz trio The Hub, returns to Newcastle with an entirely new venture - a duo with the acclaimed UK keyboards player Matthew Bourne.

A development of Sean's increasing interest in the power of music to actually tell stories, 'Bourne to Brew' is a fermentation of shape-shifting improvisations, stories of minimalism and intoxication that wander through dense soundscapes. "It is," he says, "as if Cecil Taylor and Samuel Beckett were out on a night of romance and in quest of a good bar fight". Premiering new compositions such as 'No Irish Need Apply' and 'Return of the Forced Meatballs', this promises to be an extraordinary, imaginative, and certainly unique musical experience!

This gig is presented by Jazz North East as part of it's 'On the Outside' programme, in collaboration with 'Splinter @ the Bridge', and with financial assistance from Newcastle City Council.
