Tony Bevan's Anglo-American Quartet  -  Thu May 17, 2001  |  08:00 pm
Admission £ 6.00 ( £ 5.00 concessions)
Bishop and Zerang take a break from touring Europe with Peter Brötzmann's Chicago Tentet to join Londoners Bevan and Edwards in a tumultuous improv quartet. The Chicagoans are key players in that city's full-on jazz-rock scene, while Bevan brings a gritty and distinctly original voice to a range of saxes. And John Edwards has twice recently astounded North East audiences with his manic virtuoisity backing Evan Parker and Elton Dean. International combinations as good as this don't happen often, and this promises to be one of those gigs that live in the memory for years to come.
