Kepler Orbit + Henrik Jensen-Peter Ehwald Duo  -  Sun Jun 04, 2017  |  08:00 pm
Admission £ 8.00 ( £ 6.00 concessions)
Now here's a stunning double bill, bringing together musicians most of whom are already known to Jazz North East, but here in a couple of exciting new combinations.

Vibes player Martin Pyne's trio Busnoys came to the Bridge back in 2012, and continues to be active. But he is also engaged with a wealth of other projects, of which Kepler Orbit is the most recent. Emerging from an improv night at London's adventurous LUME club, the trio features Martin on vibes and electronic percussion, Ed Riches on guitar, and Tom Ward - most recently in town with the brilliant Madwort Sax Quartet - on bass clarinet.

The other half of this double bill consists of the duo of Danish bassist Henrik Jensen and German saxophonist Peter Ehwald, the former known to Tyneside audiences through his quartet Followed by Thirteen, and the latter as the leader of the excellent Anglo-German quartet Paragon. The two of them have worked together on and off for something like 15 years, but their rare UK appearances have previously been confined to London. So it has taken a long time to get them up here to Tyneside, but it will certainly be worth the wait.

Tickets for this gig are available from Reflex CDs (0191 260 3246) or online from
