Improvisers Workshop with MacDonald & Wilson  -  Sun Oct 01, 2017  |  03:00 pm
The monthly Improvisers Workshops at the Bridge have proved to be a real stimulus to the creative development of local musicians, with the participants taking the lessons into their own performances, and the workshop group itself testing out its ideas in concert. Using a range of sources as inspiration - texts, graphic scores, game theory, or unfettered free improvisation - players from diverse musical backgrounds have found common ground in pushing their creative boundaries.

Experienced improvisers such as Andy Champion, John Pope and Wes Stephenson have been on hand to help shape the sessions, but this October workshop promises to be extra special with the assistance of guest ‘facilitators’ Raymond MacDonald and Graeme Wilson, both of them founder members of the internationally renowned Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra.

That doesn’t mean that the afternoon will be exceptionally intense or intimidating; both Raymond and Graeme are popular and experienced educators with musicians of all ages and abilities, and everything is bound to be very relaxed. But also very stimulating . . . if you feel that you’d like to try stretching yourself musically, this is the place to be.
