Vibes virtuoso Corey Mwamba played his first ever Tyneside gig at the Cluny in June 2010, since when he has become a regular and much loved visitor. But this appearance at the Bridge will be the first time since that debut that he comes to us with his trio, recently given the name YANA, and the format that first brought him to widespread attention on the UK scene.

Certainly that Cluny gig, at which they were one half of a double bill with Troyka, made a huge impression: a review in 'BebopSpokenHere' pleaded "Come back again but do a longer set please". Well, it's taken nearly five years, but here's the trio doing two sets, during which they should give full rein to their freewheeling group improvisation that has been described as "like three old friends with a lot to talk about, enjoying each other's company and relishing the chance to catch up". We like to think that we're their friends as well, and it's good to renew the acquaintance.

This gig is promoted by 'Splinter @ the Bridge', and is supported by Jazz North East
