Graham Hardy Quartet  -  Sun Apr 11, 2010  |  07:30 pm
Trumpeter Graham Hardy is one of the most in-demand musicians in the North East, a long-standing member of the Voice of the North Orchestra and, more recently, a key part of the Paul Edis Sextet. But it's in his own bands that he can most fully express himself, whether it be the contemporary sound of his New Orleans style brass octet Horn Dogs, or the more straightahead context of this quartet. But even this has a different and distinctive approach as the role of the conventional jazz drummer is taken over by virtuoso percussionist Brendan Murphy. This gig, co-promoted by Jazz North East and 'Splinter @ the Bridge', is the first outing for the new quartet line-up, and promises to be an unmissable experience.
