Jeff Williams | Back

Born and raised in Oberlin, Ohio, Jeff Williams started to play drums at the age of eight, and had early exposure to such iconic figures as Jo and Elvin Jones through his jazz singing mother.

After a brief flirtation with psychedilic rock, Jeff became seriously involved with jazz, moving to New York in 1971 and, still in his early 20s, joining the band of Stan Getz. Other regular bookings were with Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Ted Curson, and many other leading figures on the New York scene.

In the early 2000s Jeff moved to London, although he still returns to the USA on a regular basis. In the UK he leads his own quintet as well as being a key member of bands led by Julian Siegel, Martin Speake, Olie Brice and many others.
