Alyn Cosker | Back

Raised in a musical household, Alyn Cosker began playing the drums at age 13, and at 16 was awarded a scholarship to study at the famous Berklee College of Music. He subsequently obtained a degree in 'Applied Music' at Strathclyde University, by which time he was already a rising star on the Scottish jazz scene. Since 2006 he has been drummer with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (where he triumphed in the daunting task of playing in a Buddy Rich tribute), as well as holding down the chair for musicians as diverse as Tommy Smith, Keith Tippett and Warren Vaché. He has also established his own trio which, with various guest musicians, recorded the critically acclaimed album 'Lyn's Une' in 2009.
