Ingrid Laubrock | Back

Originally from Germany, Ingrid Laubrock moved to London in 1989, and by the mid '90s was becoming widely recognised as one of the most interesting young players on the scene, working with a variety of bands and helping to establish the influential F-ire Collective. More recently she has relocated to the USA and has become a significant figure on New York's downtown scene.

Her playing has always been marked by a great sense of space, and she has become increasingly interested in the balance between composition and free improvisation, most notably in two trios, one with British pianist Liam Noble and American drummer Tom Rainey, and the other with Rainey and experimental American guitarist Mary Halvorson.
