Barry Guy | Back
Double Bass

An early member of the Spontaneous Music Ensemble in the 1960s, Barry Guy has developed into one of the UK's most significant contributors to improvised music, both as a virtuoso bassist, and as a composer and organiser. His bass playing is best known through his involvement in one of Evan Parker's longest standing trios (with drummer Paul Lytton the third member), while his rle as founder and leader of the London Jazz Composers Orchestra has yielded a number of important large scale compositions. Now living in Switzerland, after a long spell as an Irish resident, Guy's appearances in the UK are increasingly infrequent, and so all the more to be treasured.
